Lisa Webb ’00 serves as assistant director of human resources at The University of Olivet. She originally came to OC as a student and later started her career in the Bookstore before holding roles in financial aid, the business office, student billing and more. Regardless of which role Lisa held, she has always enjoyed working with students and creating an inclusive atmosphere at OC.
What brought you to Olivet, and why do you love the College?
I came to OC because I grew up in a small town just a few miles away, and many of my teachers in middle and high school graduated from The University of Olivet. The small town and size of the campus was appealing to me and is one of the reasons that I love OC. We’re like a family, and I love the relationships that are built from being so close knit.
What is your favorite memory from your time at OC?
I have several favorite memories at The University of Olivet. I’d have to say that serving as the class adviser for some of my previous Bookstore student workers and attending football games with close co-workers — specifically winning a close contest at Albion in 2006 — are at the top of my list. As a student, there are memories of my creative writing and first-year experience courses that I will not forget.
Where does your passion for working in human resources stem from?
My passion for working in human resources comes from wanting to assist students and employees in any way that I can. I enjoy helping others by answering a question or assisting them with concerns.
What’s the average day in your role, or some of the unique things you are responsible for?
My average day changes from day to day. There are always so many new opportunities every day to help build and make OC an even better community.
Why do you encourage students to attend OC?
I encourage students to attend The University of Olivet because we’re one big family. We do whatever we can to make their educational experience unique and inclusive. Faculty and staff truly care about our students, and we do our best to help them succeed in every way.
What do you look forward to in your role?
I look forward to the beginning of the fall semester every year. I enjoy seeing new faces and creating memories with our students, faculty and staff.
What is an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?
I was a member of the first class to begin study at The University of Olivet under the Olivet Plan.
