ADVANTAGE Scholarship

At The University of Olivet, we believe that cost should not bar a student from experiencing the value of a private, liberal arts education. That’s why we created the ADVANTAGE Scholarship, a no-cost tuition program for qualified students. 

What is the ADVANTAGE Scholarship?

ADVANTAGE is a “last dollar*” scholarship, resulting in no-cost tuition for students who qualify for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and the federal Pell Grant. If a student is awarded the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and a federal Pell Grant, the ADVANTAGE scholarship covers specific amounts as follows: 

• Michigan Achievement Scholarship (MAS) qualified + Pell Eligible Students = FULL TUITION 
• MAS Qualified students with families whose adjusted gross income is ≤ $100,000 = NO MORE THAN $5,000 in tuition 
• MAS qualified students with families whose adjusted gross income is > $100,000 = AT LEAST $20,000 in institutional funds toward tuition at The University of Olivet. 

*Last-dollar scholarships are designed to bridge the funding gap between the cost of tuition and other forms of financial aid, e.g., grants, other scholarships, tuition remission, etc., that a student has been awarded.  

On-Campus Students

On-campus undergraduate students who qualify for the Michigan Achievement Scholarship are eligible to receive up to $5,500 per year in State of Michigan financial aid

Eligibility 

• On-campus students must be first-time, full-time students beginning in the fall of their academic year 
• Students must have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $30,000 or less as indicated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  
• Students must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, maintain full-time status and be in good academic standing in each regular (spring and fall) semester.  
• Students are responsible for room and board; however, federal loans may be applied toward these costs. 
• Students will be responsible for any possible increases in tuition and fees in future academic years.  
• Students who are not eligible for the MAS are provided with an affordable financial aid package.
