I like it here. When you have your instructor’s telephone number to call or text if you need anything, that’s something. That’s the reality here.”
The Tools You Need to Succeed
From enrollment to graduation, The University of Olivet is committed to your personal, academic and career success. How do we make this happen? Our highly qualified faculty and staff are committed to engaging with you, our students, throughout the learning process. While the learning that happens in the classroom is powerful and important, you also grow as an individual while you live, play and interact with your faculty and peers outside the classroom. In fact, we often form connections with students that last well beyond graduation.
Arts and Humanities
Arts and Humanities refers to a broad range of subjects that include — but are not limited to — English, literature, media production and communication, music, philosophy, writing, visual arts, graphic design, ethics, world languages and religion. Students who select a major in the Arts and Humanities study the achievements of the human spirit and mind. Students work within a variety of disciplines in order to acquire a deeper understanding of themselves, civilization and the world.
Business
Business majors and minors are designed to combine a strong liberal arts education with courses and activities related to the nature and operation of today’s for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Coursework emphasizes analytical and critical thinking as well as the application of material to case studies and simulations, rather than memorization alone. Students will be prepared to contribute immediately in their career or in a graduate school environment.
Health and Human Performance
Do you love physical fitness but are not sure what career path to choose? Our dedicated faculty will help you explore your many options — from sports psychology, to exercise science, fitness management and more. Our talented professors are passionate about this field of study. From advising and assisting you with your classes to serving as mentors in your graduate school or career pursuit, your professors are your allies from day one.
Natural Sciences and Mathematics
You love science and are interested in a career in the discipline, but which path is right for you? On the very first day you step on campus, our faculty will help you explore your options — from medicine to the environment and dentistry to teaching. Our professors are passionate about the work they do. They’ll strive to challenge you and, more importantly, they’ll help you do whatever it takes to be successful.
Pathways
Career Pathways are popular in many fields and offer a direct pipeline to careers. Courses are grouped together to form clear paths into a career, graduate school and beyond. Targeted advising ensures you stay on the path, learn what you need to know and graduate.
Social Science
The Social Science Department has the flexibility to accommodate students with varied career interests, preparing students for non-profit or public service positions as well as graduate school. All students within the Social Science Department complete an internship with a top organization as part of their academic experience, such as with local government branches and departments, schools, social service agencies and more. Many of our students find full-time careers with these organizations after graduation.
