Continuing its more than 80-year tradition, the Women’s Board of The University of Olivet has announced its 2020-2021 scholarship awardees.
The six honorees include sophomores Alexis Hanchett, Delaney Peters and Zoie Walters; juniors Tori John and Marrissa Pritchard; and senior Cady LaPoint VanCura.
Alexis is majoring in insurance and risk management and minoring in claims investigation. She is the current president of Gamma Iota Sigma Alpha Alpha Chapter at The University of Olivet, an international professional insurance fraternity. Alexis is also an active member of the The University of Olivet Difference Maker program and the Global Citizen Honors Society.
Delaney Peters
Delaney Peters

Delaney is studying actuarial science and is a member of a number of organizations on campus, including Gamma Iota Sigma, the Global Citizen Honors Program and the Marching Comets. Delaney also graduated from the Women’s Leadership and President’s Leadership Institutes. These programs helped build her character and leadership skills.
Zoie is from Battle Creek and is double majoring in insurance and risk management and financial planning. Zoie is also involved in multiple organizations on campus, like Gamma Iota Sigma and the Difference Makers. After college she plans on entering the insurance or finance industry.

Tori is an exercise science major and a member of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Society, for those seeking a career in the health and human performance field. Her goal is to work in prosthetics and orthotics, utilizing 3D technology for making devices more durable and less costly. Tori is the manager for the Olivet band program as well, taking care of instrument and uniform inventories. She is also a member of the Wind Ensemble, Marching Comets and Jazz Band as the principle baritone saxophone player.

Marrissa is a psychology major with a gerontology minor. She is the Optimist Club, Psych Club, and Gerontology Club president, as well as social chair of Alpha Lambda Epsilon. Marrissa is part of the psychology honor society, Psi Chi; is a Difference Maker and a member of the Global Citizens Honors Program. She is also the junior class representative for the Student Government Association (SGA), and she will be the Greek representative for SGA in her senior year.
Cady is a biology major with a premed concentration. She is a member of Women’s Leadership Institute, Gruen Chemistry Society and Sigma Zeta National Math and Science Honors Society. Cady works full-time as a registered polysomnographic technician and also works on her hobby farm with her husband and daughter. She also adopts and trains wild mustang horses.

The Women’s Board of The University of Olivet, founded in 1859, has awarded more than $500,000 in its history of supporting The University of Olivet and its students. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic and co-curricular performance, as well as service and community work.
