After 15 dedicated years, Marty (Mason) Jennings ’67 retired as director of alumni engagement on Nov. 17. In October, BJ Hull, vice president for advancement, announced Samantha Pearl ’00 as the new The University of Olivet director of alumni engagement. Much like Marty, Samantha began her journey with OC as a student, and has since remained a Comet at heart.
“I’m excited to take on the role of Director of Alumni Engagement,” Pearl said. “The position will allow me to serve my alma mater and connect with other alumni who benefited from Olivet’s unique approach to education and who believe in its mission.”
In February 2017, Samantha returned to The University of Olivet to serve as the director of stewardship and donor engagement in the Office of Advancement. Over the past months, she has exhibited tremendous work ethic, strong attention to detail and a passion for the college’s mission. Prior to returning to OC, Samantha served in a variety of business roles including work in human resources, operations and most recently in healthcare leadership.
On Nov. 20, Samantha officially transitioned to Director of Alumni Engagement. In September, Samantha began preparing for her new role, and even had the opportunity to work alongside Marty during the pinnacle alumni event – Homecoming. In addition, Samantha has joined the staff of Shipherd’s Record, the alumni magazine of OC, assisting in creating and suggesting content that connects with Comets of all ages. Marty has also partnered with Samantha to help her learn more about the Alumni Council, network with alumni, and transition to her new responsibilities.
While at The University of Olivet, Samantha earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management. She then continued her education at Cornerstone University where she earned a Master of Business Administration. Samantha and her husband, Jim, live in the Battle Creek area. Their twin daughters began their first year of college this fall at the University of Michigan.
