What is your background in softball?

Softball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a kid, both of my parents played slow-pitch softball and my dad would play low level professional slow-pitch across the east coast. I started playing baseball when I was 7 years old and moved over to softball when I was 9. From there I played on travel teams and picked up playing whenever I had the opportunity. I played all through high school and college. I have experience playing at the NCAA Division 2, Junior College, and NCAA Division 1 levels. Once I was done playing, I couldn’t stay away and began coaching travel ball teams until I got my first college coaching opportunity in 2018.

How long have you been coaching at OC and what do you like most about coaching here?

I have been coaching at OC since November 2021. The small town, family atmosphere is what I like most about coaching here at OC. Everyone basically knows everyone, and we all go through it together which builds a bond whether people notice it or not. You can’t find that at most bigger colleges.

Where does your passion for softball stem from?

My passion for softball stems from my dad. Traveling with him and always being at a ball field until I was able to play myself. He built the passion for the game in me and pushed me to be a better athlete all the time.

What’s one thing you tell your student-athletes when you see they need to be inspired or reassured that they’ve got what it takes to succeed, whether in their sport or in the classroom?

Depending on the person I give them the best advice possible. I reassure them that I am always here for them no matter what and that messing up is okay, what’s not okay is giving in and not trying. If you try and give it your all, you’re already moving forward. I also always tell them “we either win or we learn” there is no other option.

What is an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?

Apparently, I seem intimidating but I’m actually a bit goofy.
