The University of Olivet remains a leader in transformative education, as highlighted by its recent recognition in U.S. News & World Report. In the 2025 rankings for Top Performers on Social Mobility among Regional Colleges Midwest, UOlivet climbed four spots to secure the #8 position.
The 2025 ranking marks Olivet’s sixth consecutive year in the top 20 for Top Performers on Social Mobility. This category assesses how effectively schools graduate economically disadvantaged students who receive federal Pell Grants.
Lloyd McPartlin, assistant vice president for enrollment management, said, “We are incredibly proud of The University of Olivet’s continued recognition for social mobility by U.S. News & World Report. This ranking reflects our deep commitment to providing students from all backgrounds with the resources and support they need to succeed. It speaks to our progress in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for students to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. As we move forward, this achievement aligns perfectly with Olivet’s mission of empowering students through transformative education. We remain dedicated to expanding access and enhancing opportunities, ensuring that every student has the tools to succeed both in college and beyond.”
The University of Olivet’s commitment to social mobility is demonstrated through initiatives like the ADVANTAGE Scholarship, which offers free or reduced tuition for Michigan Achievement Scholarship (MAS) qualified students, and the Olivet Direct! program, which provides streamlined admission and significant tuition support to students from partner institutions. Together, these programs ensure that many students, particularly Pell-eligible and MAS-qualified individuals, receive the financial resources needed to pursue higher education.
“This ranking reaffirms The University of Olivet’s dedication to providing a transformative and accessible education,” President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., said. “Being recognized as a top performer in social mobility for the sixth consecutive year speaks to our ongoing commitment to empowering students from all backgrounds. As we continue to expand opportunities and strengthen our academic programs, we remain focused on helping every student succeed and reach their full potential.”
U.S. News & World Report is frequently cited as the nation’s premier college ranking publication. The rankings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, are one of the most comprehensive research tools for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.
