An artist’s reception will take place on Friday, March 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition and reception will be held at the Kresge Foundation Art Gallery inside the Riethmiller Blackman Art Building. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
Carrigan, a native of Charlotte, Michigan, discovered his passion for art at a young age. As a boy, he found inspiration in the stories of Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse from his school’s library. Captivated by the imagery in these tales, he began creating his own artwork, setting the foundation for his artistic journey.
After graduating high school, receiving formal art instruction from Kellogg Community College and Lansing Community College, and traveling the United States and Canada, Carrigan studied many different artists and developed his own technique. His work mostly consists of acrylic on canvas.
“I like to tell stories and with my pictures I strive not only to entertain, but to inform and inspire those who view my artwork. To me, the world is a wondrous and magical place and I hope that through the images I create, people will feel and be touched by that magic,” Carrigan said.
