After earning a BFA from the University of Michigan School of Art with a concentration in figurative sculpture, Professor Cynthia (Thia) Eller went on to complete an MFA from the University of Michigan School of Medical and Biological Illustration. After several years as a freelance medical illustrator, Professor Eller joined the teaching faculty at The University of Olivet where she developed the biological illustration major.
After years of independent work in clay modeling and ceramics, Professor Eller took over teaching the ceramics classes at The University of Olivet. Currently she teaches drawing skills lab, biological illustration and ceramics. After 25 years of teaching art at The University of Olivet, Professor Eller continues to enjoy the close, personal relationships with students that is possible in such a small, close-knit community. She tries to keep in touch with former students through social media and loves it when they contact her out of the blue.
