Dr. Sarah Peterson serves as assistant dean for distance education at The University of Olivet. Her experience in teaching Writing and Editing led her to pursue an interest in distance education, where she now focuses. She began teaching in 2013 after working in publishing and fell in love with the helping students accomplish their goals.
Dr. Peterson launched her teaching career at Kirtland Community College, which is where she began to experience the power of online learning. She gained experience connecting with students digitally to share her love of literature and writing, teaching both traditional and hybrid courses. In her current role at UO, Dr. Peterson works with online faculty, students, and staff to design, implement, and advance online programs and resource support. She keeps her hand in educational advancements by researching relationship-based learning, artificial intelligence, online accessibility needs, and online teaching practices.
Dr. Peterson earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature with a minor in WWII history from the University of Michigan, a master’s degree in English composition and rhetoric from the University of Indianapolis, and a Ph.D. in educational technology and online learning from Regent University.
