Professor Nick Juday earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education with a concentration in exercise science at Manchester (College) University, Ind. His master’s degree is also in physical education with an emphasis in exercise science from Western Michigan University (WMU). During his studies, he researched human performance and wrote his master’s thesis, “An Investigation of the Temporal Relationship Between Phases of Movement and EMG Response of Selected Muscles – Vertical Jump and Depth Jumps.”
Professor Juday’s passion for human performance began during his undergraduate studies and as a sprinter on the Manchester University track and field team. During his master’s studies at WMU, he gained experience by being promoted from a graduate assistant to assistant strength and conditioning coach. His duties included supervising, scheduling, designing and implementing programs for Division I athletes. Professor Juday has served as a guest speaker and counselor at numerous strength and conditioning and speed development clinics. He also taught courses for the HPERS Department during his time at WMU. At The University of Olivet, Professor Juday has served as coordinator of strength and conditioning and men’s and women’s cross country and track and field coach during his tenure.
In addition to teaching, Professor Juday is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (C.S.C.S.) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is currently a member of this organization. He also holds certifications through USA Olympic Weightlifting (USAW), USA Track and Field (USATF) Level 1 Coaching Certification and is an instructor certified through the American Red Cross.
Professor Juday mentors his students through research studies and internships at various locations based on the student’s needs or career choice. His teaching focus is on exercise science and human performance, through the practical courses of exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and principles and techniques of conditioning.
He and his wife, Tish, have two girls, Sydney and Jovi.
