Lisa J. Furman, Ph.D., is the dean for academic quality and innovation at The University of Olivet where she provides guidance and support for academic program development and design, manages assessment and program review processes, and oversees accreditation, compliance efforts at the College. She is a member of the Peer Corps Review for the Higher Learning Commission and is a graduate of the The University of Olivet Leadership Academy. During her tenure at The University of Olivet, Dr. Furman has previously served in the roles of director of bands and assistant professor of music, and she led the College’s teacher preparation program as the director of education.
Prior to her appointment at The University of Olivet, Dr. Furman taught middle and high school instrumental music in Michigan for East Jackson Community Schools and remains an active public school colleague, presenter and clinician, and she a past-president of the Michigan Music Education Association and currently serves on the University of Michigan School of Music Theatre, and Dance Alumni board. Dr. Furman earned her Ph.D. and master’s degree in music education from the University of Michigan, and she completed her Bachelor of Music Education at Michigan State University.
