Kelly Corey, Ph.D.

Kelly Corey, Ph.D., is a professor of business and founding director of the Master of Arts in Leadership program at The University of Olivet. Dr. Corey invests a wealth of experience as an entrepreneurial leader, experiential learning facilitator, educator, and author in creating synergistic relationships and capacity-building programs that drive professional growth and generate measurable positive impact.

Prior to her time at Olivet, Dr. Corey served as a professor of management at Trine University. While at Trine, Dr. Corey created its Master of Science in Leadership program, which has since evolved into the Lou Holtz Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. She also initiated the P2 Power Skills co-curricular professional development program and Ehinger Fellows business and engineering leadership program which were instrumental in transforming the culture of Trine’s Ketner School of Business. Dr. Corey also served as an assistant professor at Western Michigan University School of Public Affairs and Administration, where she taught nonprofit and public sector leadership and management.

Outside of academia, Dr. Corey empowers communities as a collective impact consultant. She has helped educational, social service and governmental agencies leverage over $60 million to build collaborative relationships and execute plans to create, measure and sustain positive community impact. She also served as the executive director of the AHEAD Coalition, where she led the development, implementation and evaluation of federal, state and local drug prevention and community mobilization projects fueled by grant funding of nearly $6 million. These experiences have inspired her research and peer-reviewed publications in the areas of translational leadership, nonprofit capacity building, and organizational management.

Dr. Corey received her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, master’s degree from Ball State University, MBA from Trine University and doctorate in public administration from Western Michigan University School of Public Affairs and Administration.

Passion for protecting our natural world drives her lifelong learning and volunteer service – she maintains certifications as an Indiana DNR Master Naturalist, Purdue Extension Advanced Master Gardener, NAI Certified Interpretive Naturalist, which inform her volunteer work as a state and national park naturalist and citizen scientist.

Dr. Kelly Corey was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She is married to Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. The Coreys find joy in human-powered adventures, their chocolate labs Mackey and Scout, and celebrating the next generation of socially responsible innovators and scientists, including their adult children, Blake, a chemical engineer, Evan, an automotive design engineer, and Karli, a marine scientist.
