Joshua Gillespie serves as the Director of Diversity Strategic Initiatives at The University of Olivet. He completed his master’s degree in university administration at Michigan State University, and he has also completed 52 hours of a postgraduate degree in higher adult lifelong education. Before joining the The University of Olivet family, he held several key roles at MSU, including Director of First Year Experience, Faculty Lead for the International Engagement Mexico program, Spartan Day of Service Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing Education. After retiring from MSU, Joshua continued to pursue his private business in real estate; he currently manages and operates Spartan Property Chasers.
Joshua has traveled to over 42 countries, is fascinated by reptiles and insects, enjoys spending time with family, listens to gospel music, plays racquet sports, breeds African Cichlids, and participates as an active member of the Kappa Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha. He is a proud member of Tabernacle of David Church, where he acts as a deacon, the Associate Administrator for the collegiate ministry, and the Stage Manager for the media team.
In addition, Joshua directs LMTS Community Outreach Services in Lansing, Michigan. In recognition of his commitment to helping others, Joshua was a recipient of the 2021 Beacon of Light Award from the Greater Lansing Food Bank and the 2022 recipient of the GLAC’s Community Service Award.
