Fred serves as Vice President of Recruitment, Marketing and Enrollment, bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience in enrollment management, student success and strategic communications across public universities. Throughout his career, Fred has led comprehensive enrollment strategies that increased access, strengthened institutional brand identity and improved student outcomes for traditional, transfer, international and first-generation populations.
Most recently, Fred served as Dean of Enrollment Management and Communication at Lake Superior State University, where he led integrated admissions, financial aid and marketing teams. Fred helped drive sustained enrollment growth through data-informed recruitment strategies, direct admission initiatives and redesigned institutional messaging. His previous leadership roles include senior enrollment and student success positions at University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, University of Mary Washington, University of Iowa, and University of Tennessee.
Fred’s work is grounded in a commitment to access, student-centered design and cross-campus collaboration, ensuring institutions are positioned to serve students effectively from first inquiry through graduation and beyond.
Fred holds a master’s degree in geography from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He grew up in Bristol, Virginia, and he and his wife, Kim, have a daughter, Clara. Their family also includes Mable, a Bloodhound.
