Christine Pedder ’11 serves as an assistant professor of health and human performance at The University of Olivet. A Michigan native, Professor Pedder earned her bachelor’s in journalism from Olivet College (The University of Olivet) and her master’s in sport management from the University of Michigan. She is currently finishing her doctorate in community health at Wayne State University and her research focuses on the sustainability of comprehensive health and wellness programs in elementary schools and their effects on children’s overall health. Professor Pedder’s other research interest areas include the relationship between an evolving media presence and sport, operations and management of recreation and community health programs and events, and the long-term effects of adolescent females’ participation in physical activity.

Although Professor Pedder only began teaching at Olivet in 2021, she has already found an immense love of teaching theories of physical fitness, sport finance and sport media communication to her students. She enjoys the advising opportunities she has been granted and has a great appreciation for helping her students piece together their four-year plan puzzles.

Professor Pedder lives in the Metro Detroit area with her husband and two children. She is an active soccer and basketball coach in her community, and enjoys running half marathons and playing soccer.
