About the Program

Clinical mental health counselors promote positive change in our communities. The University of Olivet’s online Master of Arts (MA) Counseling program incorporates issues of equity, difference, inclusion, and belonging in counseling and prepares socially-just, culturally competent clinicians. This program is uniquely designed to align with:

  • Michigan clinical counseling licensure requirements
  • National accreditation standards for counseling and related programs. Tuition is among the lowest for online MA Counseling programs.

Equity Counseling Academy

You’ll have the unique opportunity to participate in our Equity Counseling Academy (ECA), a student development program focused on theories and practices of equitable and inclusive counseling. This academy aims to highlight the awareness, knowledge, and skill development necessary for socially-just engagement. Our intent is to build a community around issues of difference by offering a structure to assist students in developing an effective and inclusive counseling approach that supports both counselor and client success.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling

  • Gain the skills to effectively provide clinical counseling services to diverse communities in both the public and private sectors.
  • Learn to provide competent assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, including an appropriate use of counseling technique.
  • Develop an understanding of the counselor’s role in social justice advocacy.
