Potterville Public Schools students will now be automatically admitted to The University of Olivet, thanks to Olivet Direct!, a new program that makes the admissions process faster and easier for qualified students. President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., and Potterville High School Principal Katherine Palmiter signed the Olivet Direct! agreement on April 17.

Direct admission allows high-achieving students to lock in their acceptance and financial aid award without requiring them to go through a lengthy admissions process. Potterville joins a growing list of Olivet Direct! partners, which include the Bangor, Bloomingdale, Charlotte and Olivet schools.

“The University of Olivet is excited to welcome Potterville Public Schools as our newest Olivet Direct! school. Thanks to this partnership, more graduates of Potterville will be able to attend The University of Olivet and benefit from our generous financial awards structure while remaining near their hometown,” said Corey. “An The University of Olivet education alters the trajectory of a person’s life. A four-year degree increases a person’s lifetime earnings, opens the door to countless career possibilities, broadens life experiences, and offers opportunities to build lasting friendships and mentorships with diverse populations.”

Potterville Public Schools high school students may also qualify for the The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship, which will cover the full cost of published tuition and general fees after all federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships are applied. To qualify for free tuition, seniors must be eligible for the new state Michigan Achievement Scholarship, be Pell-eligible and have been a Michigan resident for at least one year. The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship aims to guarantee students, especially first-generation students and those from low-to-moderate-income families throughout Michigan, a quality, relationship-based college experience.

Palmiter said, “We are excited about our relationship with The University of Olivet to support more of our students looking at college as an opportunity they may not have thought possible beforehand due to the costs. We appreciate their collaboration and desire to work with our students to help them open more doors in their futures.”
