What is your role with the college and where does your passion for this role stem from?
I am the assistant dean of student life and I serve as the director of residence life. This passion started at Kansas State University as a community assistant and then a resident advisor. The leadership I had at KSU inspired me so much that after college I chose to go into higher education instead of graphic design.
What are the most exciting parts of your role?
You never know what the day will bring. Because we are always helping students something exciting can happen at any time. But my excitement mostly comes from working with the resident advisors and hall directors. I learn from them all the time.
What “words of wisdom” have you lived by that students can learn from?
Check your emails and ask questions before due dates.
What is an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?
It’s known that I love my family back home, I enjoy sports, I like to cook, and I’m also a Star Wars nerd. Over the past few years, I have been working on my BBQ and I’m always striving to make it better. Since I am starting my 20th year at Olivet, I would say that there are not any more little-known facts about me!
Anything else you’d like to share?
I am excited by the growth of the College and can’t wait to see what all this new year brings!
