The University of Olivet Wind Ensemble will honor veterans and active duty military during an exclusive concert, titled “An American Tribute,” Monday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Olivet Congregational Church (125 College St., Olivet). The event is free and open to the public.
“In addition to Veterans Day, we will recognize the upcoming 150th anniversary of the close of the American Civil War with ‘The Blue and the Gray;’ our troops will be recognized with ‘The Armed Forces Salute;’ and the Marine Corps’ 239th birthday will be honored with Sousa’s ‘Semper Fidelis,’” said Jeremy Duby, director of bands at The University of Olivet. “Most importantly, we want to pay homage to the great people who not only serve but are the epitome of what it is to be an American.”
The student musicians will also perform American classics such as “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Amber Waves of Grain,” and “God Bless America.” In addition, everyone in attendance will receive an American flag.
