The University of Olivet will host the Fall Choral Festival for high school students on Friday, Oct. 18.
Each choir will have the opportunity to perform two pieces and receive a clinic from The University of Olivet Director of Choral Activities Joel Moore and world-renowned composer Stacy V. Gibbs. After lunch, the choirs will combine forces into a mass choir to rehearse and perform one of Gibbs’ arrangements. The choirs will then have the opportunity to premiere this new arrangement at a concert in their hometown.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for The University of Olivet and our choral students to serve these high school programs by providing this outstanding festival,” Moore said. “Students will learn by performing their music in front of other choirs, receiving a clinic and by observing clinics with the other choirs. The fact that the students will premiere a Gibbs arrangement makes this experience extra special.”
