Four The University of Olivet insurance and risk management students recently passed exams earning the professional designations of University Associate Certified Insurance Counselor (UACIC) and University Associate Certified Risk Manager (UACRM).

The students include: Abigail Maas, a 2012 graduate from Olivet; Korey Mervenne, a senior from Jenison; Chelsea Swaynie, a senior from Eaton Rapids; and Kaitlin Zull, a 2013 graduate from Battle Creek.

The University Associate CIC and CRM designations are for students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in insurance and risk management. Both programs give participants a head start on earning the internationally recognized Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations. After successfully passing the required university course(s) and completing an examination, these individuals earned the UACIC and/or UACRM designation. This work also afforded them with credit for two parts of the CIC or CRM designation.

The CIC and CRM programs, conducted by The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, are comprised of five, 20-hour courses, each followed by a short-answer essay exam. Students with the University Associate CIC or CRM designation(s) need only successfully complete three remaining courses and exams to complete the internationally recognized CIC and CRM designation(s). The Jerry Montgomery Memorial Research Fund of The National Alliance Research Academy provides continuing educational support to allow these students to achieve their designations.
