Two The University of Olivet seniors will speak as part of the distinguished Dean’s Scholars Series Monday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Burrage Library fireplace room.

Jessica Doster, an English major from Three Rivers, will present her paper, “A Main Character’s Love for Language Displayed in Contemporary Literature,” and Heather Kennedy, an English major from Woodland, will present her paper, “Going, Going, Gone: Understanding Evil and the Unset Definition.”

Both students were selected earlier this year to present their papers at the annual meeting of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts & Letters (MASAL). The organization’s annual conference covers topics ranging from chemistry, history and mathematics to political science, medieval studies, language & literature and more. In addition to presenting at the conference, participants’ papers are also published in MASAL’s journal, the “Michigan Academician.”

The University of Olivet Dean’s Scholars Series is a forum in which students and faculty members are invited by Maria Davis, Ph.D., provost and dean of the college, to present their scholarly work to the college and community. All events are free and open to the public. Faculty and staff planning on attending the presentation are invited to have dinner as a guest of the provost at 5:30 p.m. in the Kirk Center. For more information, call (269) 749-7618.
