The University of Olivet is pleased to announce that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has granted accreditation to the College’s Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) program. CCNE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral and certificate programs in the United States and its territories.
“This accreditation marks a substantial milestone for our program. Earning accreditation for our nursing program through CCNE affirms we are delivering on our responsibility to offer quality education for our students. Accreditation status is a measure of the highest quality and reflects the significant work and the personal commitment of the nursing faculty and the excellence of the total college curriculum,” said The University of Olivet President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D.
In preparation for the accreditation process, The University of Olivet completed a rigorous self-review process, in addition to hosting CCNE site program evaluators on campus in the fall of 2019. The CCNE Board of Commissioners determined that The University of Olivet has met all four accreditation standards:
1. Mission and governance.
2. Institutional commitment and resources.
3. Curriculum and teaching-learning practices.
4. Assessment and achievement of program outcomes.
The University of Olivet program serves two populations of students seeking a seamless path to a BSN:
• Traditional Pathway to Nursing students interested in a BSN degree following completion of an associate degree in applied science in nursing.
• Professional registered nurses (RNs) currently working in the health care industry.
The University of Olivet distinctive, relationship-based program offers an education delivery model that supports students in completing the program while balancing their school-family-work-life responsibilities. Two modes of delivery are provided for students:
• Interactive online experience in real time.
• Asynchronous online experience, which allows students to complete courses at times convenient around their work and family responsibilities.
In 2018, The University of Olivet entered into an articulation agreement with Kellogg Community College to increase the number of bachelor-level nursing graduates in Battle Creek and help create a stronger nursing workforce across the region. The University of Olivet is presently working toward articulation agreements with other Michigan community colleges.
