The University of Olivet was included in two 2022 U.S. News and World Report Best College Rankings. The University of Olivet was ranked 17th as a Top Performer on Social Mobility in the Midwest and 45th on the Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest list.

The Top Performer on Social Mobility ranking is in its third year, and The University of Olivet has earned a spot in the top twenty for all three years. Social mobility measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. Pell Grants are typically awarded to students from households whose family incomes are less than $50,000 annually, though most Pell Grant funds are awarded to students with a total family income below $20,000. The ranking is computed from factors assessing graduation rates of Pell-awarded students.
As U.S. News & World Report said, “Economically disadvantaged students are less likely than others to finish college, even when controlling for other characteristics. But some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants.”

U.S. News & World Report is frequently cited as the nation’s premier college ranking publication. The rankings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, are one of the most comprehensive research tools for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.
