The University of Olivet is proud to announce its designation as a 2021-22 Military Spouse Friendly® School by Viqtory Media. This year, the College was also designated as a 2021-22 Top 10 Gold-Level Military Friendly® School. OC ranked fourth in the category of private schools not offering a doctorate degree. Over 1,200 schools participated in the 2021-2022 survey, with 747 schools earning the designation as a Military Friendly® School, of which only 194 were selected for the Military Spouse Friendly® Schools list.
Military Friendly® serves as a standard to measure an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community. The Military Friendly® School list is specifically designed to equip veterans, dependents, active duty and other military personnel with the ability to easily and efficiently navigate their educational opportunities. Specialized lists, like the Military Spouse Friendly® School list, are created to identify the specific needs of members of the military community.
Institutions competed for the elite Military Friendly® School title by completing a survey of more than 100 questions covering 10 categories, including military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes and military spouse policies. Survey responses were scored against benchmarks across these key indicators of success. The 2021-2022 Military Spouse Friendly® Schools list will be published in Military Spouse magazine’s May issue and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
“We are very proud to have The University of Olivet recognized as a Military Spouse Friendly® School. Through the support of faculty and staff, we know the value student-veterans as well as their families bring to The University of Olivet. We are dedicated to provide continued resources to build advocacy and understanding for our students in the military community,” said Leslie Sullivan, registrar and VA certifying official. “We sincerely thank these brave men and women for their service in the Armed Forces and their families who sacrifice and support them, and now we are grateful to serve them in their educational endeavors.”
The Military Friendly® Schools designation is awarded to the top colleges, universities, community colleges and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and dedicate resources to ensure their success both in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student-veteran landscape to one much more transparent and has played a significant role over the past seven years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country.
