The University of Olivet Visual Arts Department invites the community to a free exhibition of intaglio prints by Carrie Lingscheit titled, “What Happened Here?” from Aug. 31 to Sept. 22, at the Kresge Foundation Art Gallery inside The University of Olivet’s Riethmiller Blackman Art Building. A free gallery talk and artist’s reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Lingscheit originally hails from South Dakota, where her interest in printmaking was piqued through involvement in several Frogman’s summer print workshops. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota in 2006, and her Master of Fine Arts from Ohio University in 2010. Lingscheit’s work has been included in numerous national and international exhibitions, dozens of invitational exchange portfolios, and is part of many private and public permanent collections, including the U.S. Library of Congress.

Lingscheit’s work explores human interaction and the malleable nature of memory formation and recall, presenting dubious narratives characterized by omission, distortion, and hyperbole.
Gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. or by appointment.
