Ryan Shockey, The University of Olivet vice president and chief of staff.

Ryan Shockey has been named vice president and chief of staff for The University of Olivet and will serve as a strategic adviser to President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., effective May 10. Presently, Shockey is the The University of Olivet athletic director and serves as the chief pandemic response officer.
“Ryan possesses exceptional leadership qualities. He is respected by faculty, staff, student-athletes, alumni, peers and community members alike. Ryan’s effective management style motivates and inspires others,” Corey said. “I am confident the College will benefit greatly from his wisdom, insight, strategic approach, thoughtful exercise in judgment and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.”
As chief of staff, Shockey will help advance the president’s college-wide agenda, assisting on major initiatives and overseeing administrative and operational activities. Shockey will serve as a member of the President’s Executive Council and President’s Cabinet. He will also serve as chief liaison to the Board of Trustees.
“The University of Olivet is a special place to me, and I am excited to take on my new role for the College,” Shockey said. “I am grateful for the opportunity President Corey has provided and look forward to many more years of working with the The University of Olivet community.”
Shockey was named athletic director for The University of Olivet in 2016, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the 22 Division III varsity sports teams and three club sports. Previous roles include serving as the head athletic trainer for both The University of Olivet and Trine University. Shockey earned a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts from Anderson University.
Haley Hunnewell has been named the new athletic director for The University of Olivet. She currently serves as associate athletic director for the College. Before joining The University of Olivet in 2020, Hunnewell was the assistant director of compliance for intercollegiate athletic programs for Iowa State University. She completed her Juris Doctorate at the University of Akron School of Law. Hunnewell also earned a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron.
