The University of Olivet has been named one of the 2017 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine. The University of Olivet and 17 other colleges and universities received this distinction. The University of Olivet and the other honorees are featured in the March 23, 2017 edition of the magazine.

At The University of Olivet, Linda Logan, Ph.D., vice president and dean of student life, oversees the Office of Student Life.

Through partnership with the Center for Higher Education Enterprise (CHEE) at Ohio State University and the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) – College Student Educator International, Diverse conducted a national web-based survey that focused on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment. The study highlights five Promising Practices that student affairs personnel at the Most Promising Places cited as reasons they enjoyed working in their department:

  • Demonstrated commitment to institutional mission and strategic plan;
  • Senior student affairs leaders who are available and involved;
  • Formal and informal recognition of good work;
  • Institutional and senior leadership support of work/life balance; and,
  • Intentional investment in the development of student affairs staff.

“I’m pleased that this national publication recognizes the excellent leadership and passionate commitment of our full time and student staff. It’s this commitment and passion that permeates student life at The University of Olivet and provides not only a promising place to work in student affairs, but provides me with promise for a positive future as our students graduate and take this passion and commitment into the world,” said Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., president of The University of Olivet.
