The MVAA selection is part of the agency’s Michigan Veteran-Friendly School program which creates and publishes a list of the top veteran-friendly schools in the state. Military Friendly® provides a comprehensive directory of employment, entrepreneurship and education resources nationwide for veterans and their families.
Olivet offers an abundance of services to military students including scholarships, academic advising, transferable military credits, a veteran’s advocate group, an on-campus veteran’s coordinator, special veteran’s events throughout the year and more. Apply or learn about these services.
“As the point of contact for all veteran students, my responsibility is to communicate and update student enrollment with the Department of Veterans Affairs and assist with certification, registration and financial aid,” said Leslie Sullivan, registrar. “In addition to these designations, we have an established profile with GoArmyEd and the The University of Olivet Veterans’ Advocates is a fully recognized campus organization whose mission is to offer a veteran-friendly campus by encouraging military students to engage in campus activities. Also, every month, a veteran’s meeting is held where we discuss current events, opportunities and upcoming projects. Currently, we are working on a design for a new memorial on our campus to commemorate all those who have served.”
The University of Olivet recognizes and honors the sacrifices that U.S. service members make in the defense of our nation. It is the Olivet mission to assist veterans, reservists and dependents receiving U.S. military benefits in making a successful transition in the OC community. By offering a veteran-friendly campus and encouraging military students to apply, the college provides the opportunity to create a challenging and rewarding educational experience. In turn, the valuable life experiences these heroes offer can only broaden the diversity of staff, faculty and other students at The University of Olivet.
