The University of Olivet is proud to continually invest in campus improvements and in creating a positive student experience for all Comets.
“It’s really awesome to know that The University of Olivet is always working on something to improve campus,” said junior Taylor Elley. “As a student assistant in admissions, I also get the pleasure of sharing these new and exciting things with future Comets. I enjoy showing that Olivet is not just a small town, but that the resources we have here ensure all students have a great college experience.”
Here are just a few recent updates on campus:
1. The Barker-Cawood Lounge in Mott Academic Center is now home to a Starbucks Coffee, as well as a vibrant place for students, staff and faculty members to connect. The café serves Starbucks coffee, specialty drinks, sandwiches, snacks and baked goods from the Willow Tree Bakery located in downtown Olivet.
2. New computers were added in several locations across campus, ensuring students have access to key technological resources. Five computers were installed in the music listening lab, as well as five additional computers in the video production studio and Convergent Media Center that support the journalism and mass communication program. New computers raised the total number of computers to 20 in the Mott 112 lab, making it a fully functioning second computer lab in the building. In addition, all classroom technology has been standardized as well, allowing faculty members the ease of transition from teaching space to space.
3, In just its first semester open to guests, the Gruen Engagement Center has already hosted numerous classes, student groups, campus visitors and special events.
4. The Margaret Upton Conservatory boasts new carpet, ensuring students have a warm and inviting place to learn and grow.
5. On the exterior of campus, a new irrigation system was installed on Dole Hall’s front lawn, helping to create a comfortable and visually appealing space for campus visitors and students looking to study or relax.
Further, the The University of Olivet Responsible Learners – Responsible Leaders comprehensive campaign will fund several additional projects that will directly impact students. In February, the renovated Hosford House will open as the Hosford History Center and Lawrence Archive, serving as a place to gather, study, relax and learn for all. A new tennis facility will be completed next summer, and additional renovations to Mott Academic Center and a new Student and Collegiate Center are also yet to come.
