Olivet Community Schools Students Eligible for Direct Admit to The University of Olivet

Olivet Community Schools students will now be automatically admitted to The University of Olivet, thanks to Olivet Direct!, a new program that makes the admissions process faster and easier for qualified students. President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., and Olivet Community Schools Superintendent John Mertz signed the Olivet Direct! agreement on March 13.

Direct admission allows high-achieving students to lock in their acceptance and financial aid award without requiring them to go through a lengthy admissions process. The College launched the program in December 2022.

“The University of Olivet is a proud neighbor of Olivet Community Schools. We are thrilled that Olivet High School students will be able to take advantage of direct admission to a college right in their backyard and benefit from our generous financial awards structure,” said President Corey. “An The University of Olivet education alters the trajectory of a person’s life. A four-year degree increases a person’s lifetime earnings, opens the door to countless career possibilities, broadens life experiences, and offers opportunities to build lasting friendships and mentorships with diverse populations.”

Further, Olivet Community Schools high school students may qualify for the The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship, which will cover the full cost of published tuition and general fees after all federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships are applied. To qualify for free tuition, seniors must be eligible for the new state Michigan Achievement Scholarship, be Pell-eligible and have been a Michigan resident for at least one year. The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE Scholarship aims to guarantee students, especially first-generation students and those from low-to-moderate-income families throughout Michigan, a quality, relationship-based college experience.

Superintendent Mertz said, “Olivet Community Schools is thrilled to be able to offer the Olivet Direct! Program to our high school seniors. This program makes the goal of attending college much easier and the The University of Olivet ADVANTAGE scholarship makes attending college financially attainable. Having Olivet Community Schools students choose to stay local and attend The University of Olivet is a tremendous positive for both the college and the school district. Olivet Community Schools has enjoyed a great relationship with The University of Olivet. We are very grateful to be able to provide this fantastic opportunity to our students and look forward to our continued partnership with the College.”
