Daily Health Screening and Temperature Check Required
All students, faculty and staff who reside on campus or come to campus for classes or work are required to complete the daily health screening and temperature check via the OC CARES ClearPass screening app. The screening is confidential, with student check-in data being submitted only to the dean of student engagement. The app asks a short series of questions related to COVID-19 symptoms. This is also where you will record your temperature.

Campus Nooks and Crannies Offer Space for Study, Zoom and Meals
We understand the winter weather makes it difficult for students to find indoor space on campus where they can study, take part in Zoom classes and have a meal while practicing the required six-feet physical distancing. Below is a list of spaces on campus open to students. Please do not reposition furniture and adhere to signage related to room capacity or if food or beverage is allowed in the area.
- Blair Hall — The Thomas Commons.
- Dole Hall — Computer labs/lounges on each floor.
- Shipherd Hall — The main lobby and computer lab.
- Mott Academic Center — Near the auditorium is a comfortable seating area and a table with chairs.
- Mott 307— Computer lab when class is not in session.
- Starbucks Cafe — Limited seating is available.
- Conservatory — An open lounge area is open to all.
- Cutler Event Center — Seating is available in hallways. The Lawrence Room may also be used, if class is not in session.
- Roznowski Learning Commons — The lower level of the library offers comfortable seating and study areas. A Zoom Room is also in the Roznowski Learning Commons. No food allowed in this area.
- Burrage Library — The Fireplace Room is open for use when not occupied, as well as seating outside of the Fireplace Room.
In addition, Burrage Library has headphones (over the ear type) that you can check out just like a book. The headphones are disinfected when returned.
Do You Have a Safety or Academic Concern?
We care about your well-being. To report any safety or academic concerns in relation to COVID-19, students should use the student complaint form located in the student tab on the MyOlivet portal. The form is designed to provide students with an online method to file a formal complaint or register a concern with The University of Olivet.
A complaint is a request for the resolution of a problem, conflict, concern or issue that negatively impacts students, the community and/or the College. Student complaints may include (but are not limited to) issues regarding instruction, college policies, procedures, services, offices and personnel.
Prior to completing this form, please review The University of Olivet’s student complaint policies in the student handbook, which may be found on the Student Engagement tab on MyOlivet. You are asked to complete the informal complaint resolution process listed in the student complaint policies prior to completing this form.
For concerns or actions that are experienced or observed which present a danger to an individual or the The University of Olivet community, please contact Campus Safety immediately at 269-749-7911 or dial 911.
Starbucks Cafe Meal Exchange
Students are encouraged to eat three meals a day to stay fueled, focused and healthy. If you are unable to grab a take away meal from the KC during regular breakfast or lunch hours, you can now grab a complete packed meal at the Starbucks Cafe. Called “Meal Exchange,” your student ID will be swiped and your packaged breakfast or lunch will be deducted from your weekly meal allowance, just as if you were at the KC.
Click here to view your breakfast and lunch Meal Exchange options. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask any member of the Chartwells staff.
Chartwells is working on additional meal service options. Watch for more meal news in next week’s OC CARES communication!
OC CARES Campus Visitor Policy
In an effort to minimize the incidence and spread of COVID-19, outside visitors are still not permitted on campus. This includes family and dependents. Students enrolled in remote delivery courses are permitted to participate in campus-sanctioned events. If you have any questions about this policy, please email Dr. Amy Radford-Popp, dean of student engagement. Thank you for understanding the need for this policy.
OC Partners with Sparrow Health to Provide On-Demand Telehealth
Under a special arrangement, The University of Olivet is promoting the MySparrow portal to students, faculty and staff to provide health and wellness care. Through the MySparrow portal, students, faculty and staff can access an on-demand video visit with an urgent care provider from their smartphone, tablet or computer with a microphone and camera between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week.
The portal also provides a Symptom Checker to determine if COVID testing is needed and to access test results. The portal is unique in the Mid-Michigan market.
A landing page has been created on the Sparrow website, Sparrow.org/OlivetCollege, where you can learn more about the portal and create an account. Video visits are not free. Prior to a video visit, confirm with your insurance provider that Sparrow is in your network or call 517-364-7999 to speak to a Sparrow billing representative. Click here to learn more.
