Dear Students,
It’s been another great week at OC. Colleges and universities across the state are seeing increases in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. We are pleased to report that at OC, there are no active cases among our community as of today. Thank you for continuing to take COVID-19 seriously and for doing your part to keep yourself and others safe and healthy.
This week’s OC CARES communication includes the following information:

  1. COVID-19 Testing Now Available on Campus
  2. Important Dining Reminders
  3. Why You Should Keep Your Social Bubble Small
COVID-19 Testing Now Available on Campus

COVID-19 testing is now available on campus. Students are encouraged to read the “Monitor and Report Symptoms” section (pages 4-6) of the OC CARES Pandemic Response Plan for details.

Important KC Dining Reminders

Thank you for being mindful of the required guidelines for dine-in eating at the KC. To meet Michigan Department of Health and Human Service guidelines during the pandemic ― and to ensure we are able to keep the KC open ― the following protocols must be followed:

  1. Capacity is limited to 25%. The Oaks Room is open for dining.
  2. The maximum number of seats at a table is six. Do not move tables or chairs, pull tables together or add chairs to tables.
  3. Wear your mask at all times, with the exception of when you are seated and eating or drinking. If you leave your table at any time, for any reason, you must wear your mask, covering your mouth and nose.
  4. Try to share your table only with members of your six-person or fewer “social bubble.”
  5. Be respectful of the time you spend at a table. Do not linger after your meal. Be kind and give up your table.
  6. Wash or sanitize your hands prior to eating, as well as after leaving the KC.
  7. Take away meals will still be provided.
Why You Should Keep Your Social Bubble Small

Keeping your “social bubble” to six or fewer people is one of the best ways to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Every additional person who joins your bubble increases the risk of spreading COVID-19.
If you are required to do contact tracing, will you be able to name all the people you’ve had extended close contact with each day? If the answer is no, your social bubble is too big.
Watch this short informational video to learn more about the importance of keeping your social bubble small.
