The University of Olivet’s music bands have been invited to take their talents overseas in late December 2015 to early January 2016 to perform as part of La Grande Parade de Paris – Champs-Élysées. The group was scouted and selected from an exclusive list by Youth Music of the World to take part in the spectacular New Year’s Day Parade on France’s most famous boulevard.

To present the formal invitation, Robert Bone, president of Youth Music of the World, will make a trip to the The University of Olivet campus Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. The University of Olivet community – including President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., Provost and Dean Maria Davis, Ph.D., Director of Bands Jeremy Duby, and student band members – will be on hand to welcome Bone and other representatives from Youth Music at 9:30 a.m. in the Upton Conservatory band room (502 S. Main St., room 146). The public is welcome to attend.

“We are thrilled to be invited to partake in La Grande Parade de Paris,” said Duby, who plans to take about 40 The University of Olivet music students on the trip. “This is a prestigious honor for us and a tremendous opportunity for the students. The experience will be truly remarkable, as this is strictly an invitation-only event and we will be one of few bands from the United States to participate.”
