The University of Olivet announces the appointment of Vicki J. Stouffer, CFRE, as the vice president for advancement. She holds more than 20 years of experience in higher education fundraising leadership and institutional advancement. As the vice president for advancement, Stouffer will serve as the senior leader in the Office for Advancement, providing support to the development and alumni engagement teams.
“Vicki brings an aspirational vision to The University of Olivet and the Office of Advancement,” said The University of Olivet President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. “She has a passion for higher education, stewardship and fundraising. Her strong record of leadership and achievement within higher education will serve The University of Olivet well, especially her ability to build a foundation of trust and collaboration with alumni and community members for the benefit of the students.”
Stouffer previously worked at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, as the vice president for institutional advancement and at the Central Michigan University (CMU) College of Medicine in Mount Pleasant as the assistant dean for medical school development. At Lourdes, Stouffer secured a 21% revenue increase and a 38% average gift increase during her first year through a redesigned fundraising strategy. She also initiated a corporate support program to replace its long-standing gala, resulting in $750k+ corporate/foundation attainment. While at CMU, Stouffer attained over $780k in community grants and awards in her first year, and boosted the average gift size by 15% each year.
“My personal values connect to The University of Olivet’s mission of education that enriches lives intellectually, morally and spiritually to a diverse campus community. The study of the Liberal Arts gives students the tools they need to adapt, persevere and succeed in the world in which we are living, and to connect to the world tomorrow will bring. I am pleased to join this values-based institution because I passionately believe in education’s ability to change the trajectory of peoples’ lives, broaden perspectives and foster innovation,” Stouffer said. “One of the most important jobs we have as fundraisers is to help donors make a difference in their lives by giving them an opportunity to make a significant impact through philanthropy. I am excited to work to strengthen Olivet’s ties to alumni, build a stronger tradition of annual giving and to prepare the major gifts team for a successful future campaign.”
Stouffer is experienced in strategic leadership and planning, philanthropic and private fundraising, staff leadership, alumni relations, outreach and engagement strategy, fundraising program evaluation and more. She holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Findlay and a Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University. Stouffer regularly engages in professional development education and has held the Certified Fund Raising Executive designation since 2006. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Green Lakes Bay Regional Institute for Leaders and the Historic Perrysburg Board.
Previously, Delstene Atkinson served as the interim vice president for advancement in addition to her role as special assistant to the president and provost. She will continue to serve the Office of the President, Office of the Provost and departments across campus to develop and implement programs to support student engagement and to secure funding to support important programs and initiatives.
