The Towsley Foundation has awarded The University of Olivet a $20,000 grant in support of scholarships for nurses in the College’s RN-BSN program. Four nonrenewable $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to four students and applied directly to the cost of tuition and fees.
The scholarship gives students the chance to focus their studies on the health care community’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and create an evidenced-based emergency preparedness response for the institutions where they practice. Scholarship recipients will work throughout the program to assess community needs and promote health and quality of life.
The Towsley Foundation application is open through May 7, 2021, at 5 p.m. and recipients will be notified on May 14, 2021. An application and a professional letter of recommendation are required to apply. The full scholarship description and application can be viewed at www.olivetcollege.edu/towsleyscholarship.
“We are grateful to the Towsley Foundation for its tremendous support in our effort to provide an important and beneficial scholarship opportunity to four deserving RN-BSN students,” said Dr. Lorraine Manier, DNP, MSN-Ed. RN, Director of Nursing Education. “The RN-BSN program was designed to help students grow and develop intellectually, personally and professionally. The focus of the program is to provide students with the critical thinking skills needed to be leaders at the bedside of patients and beyond. This scholarship takes that a step further, supporting students as they identify and research community issues and propose an evidence-based solution. Now more than ever, communities around the world need experienced and dedicated health care professionals, and The University of Olivet is doing our part to develop baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses.”
The Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation was established in 1959 by Margaret Dow Towsley.
To financially support healthcare and frontline workers to pursue their BSN degree, The University of Olivet has reduced tuition from $567 to $410 per credit hour.
The University of Olivet RN-BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
