It’s just two weeks until Move-In! That means just 14 more days of meals at home. Wondering if you should do some grocery shopping before heading to campus? Worried the food won’t be to your liking? Don’t worry – Chartwells food service has you covered. To give you an idea of the food options available, we’ve created a freshman’s guide to dining at The University of Olivet.
Kirk Center
Known simply as the KC, the Kirk Center is home base for good eats on campus. Conveniently located, there’s no excuse to miss breakfast, lunch or dinner. From healthy options to comfort foods, Chartwells serves something for everyone.
You’ll want to rise and shine for breakfast because there’s a smorgasbord of fresh fruit, yogurt, hot and cold cereal, and main dishes such as scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (sometimes both). There’s pancakes and French toast, too!
Why settle for a PB&J or microwaved mac and cheese you make in your room when you can have a made-to-order sandwich or wrap, pizza, salad bar or soup for lunch or dinner? And you won’t believe the fresh and homemade options served up every day, including world foods and American classics. Whether you’re looking for a protein punch before a big game or just the thing to satisfy a craving, you’ll find it on the lunch or dinner menu.
Students use their IDs to swipe in for meals and can also use their bonus meals to bring guests. Cash or cards may also be used to purchase a meal for parents, faculty, staff or members of the community. The door rates for meals are $4.20 for breakfast, $6.30 for lunch or brunch and $9.25 for dinner.

Is all that studying leaving you feeling hungry in the evening hours? Whether you’re craving some nachos or pizza, dying for an ice cream shake, thirsty for something hot or cold, you’ll be refueled in no time. Late night munchies may be purchased with meal plan points or cash and cards. Dine in or carry out – perfect for an evening study session. Open Sunday – Thursday, 8:30–11:30 p.m.
The Corner at Mott
For students on the run, grab a meal on the way to class at the Corner at Mott. You’ll find a variety of coffee, granola bars, chips, hummus, bagels, sandwiches and more. Use your meal plan points or pay with cash or cards. Located by the Cottage Street entrance of the Mott Academic Center (across from Shipherd Hall), the Corner at Mott is a popular gathering spot. There’s even an outdoor patio. Open weekdays from 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Your Personal Stash
With all of these food options, there’s not much more you’ll need. But, if you do get a hankering for a certain cold beverage or flavored coffee, microwave popcorn or pizza, you can treat yourself while kicking back in your room. Students may have a microwave of 800 watts or less and a refrigerator that’s 4-cubic feet or smaller in their room. Just leave the George Foreman Grill, toaster, hot pot and deep fryer at home. Be sure to check out the list of things allowed and not allowed.
