Become an Insurance and Risk Management Professional

About The Program

The University of Olivet is extending an exclusive opportunity to select students at our international partner institutions. For a limited time, students may complete online courses that can lead to an MBA or a certificate of completion to prepare them for insurance and risk management careers. Students will pay a flat rate of $500 for the first course and a 50% scholarship will be provided for the remaining courses.  Students who wish to pursue business-related graduate programs will benefit from the certificate and the MBA with unlimited career opportunities.

Insurance and Risk Management Certificate of Completion

Students who wish to prepare for a career in insurance and risk management are encouraged to enroll in the following courses at special partner pricing. 

MBA 800 Insurance and Risk Management – flat rate of only $500 

Course Dates: March 11 – May 5, 2024 

Be introduced to the concept of risk, the process of risk management, and the field of insurance, including fundamental doctrines, historical background, social value, economic influence, loss exposures and protection, insurance regulation, insurance carriers, and an overview of insurance operations such as reinsurance, marketing, underwriting and claims adjusting. This course emphasizes the best practices of the American insurance industry. 

MBA 854 Risk Assessment – 50% scholarship upon completion of MBA 800 

Course Dates: June 3 – July 28, 2024 

Examine the risk management process for a private firm with a focus on identifying and analyzing loss exposure, alternatives to traditional insurance, and using forecasting and cash flow analysis to manage risk. 

MBA – Insurance and Risk Management 

Upon completing MBA 800 and MBA 854, students are invited to continue their learning with the online MBA program. Students from partner institutions will receive special pricing with a 50% scholarship for their MBA courses. 

Concentrations 

We offer the following program areas to students attending our India partners:  

  • Insurance 
  • Enterprise and Risk Management 

 

Program Courses 

  • 11 course sequence for the MBA
  • 5 course sequence for the certificate of completion

Each course is 3 credit hours; total of 45 clock hours of instruction

Meet Your Professor

Tom Humphreys, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, CIC, is the director of the Insurance and Risk Management Center and an associate professor at The University of Olivet. He has been instrumental in building the Insurance and Risk Management program to its #3 ranking* in the United States. 

Humphreys has more than 30 years of experience and built a successful insurance and risk management career. He holds professional designations from the American College, The National Alliance and the Insurance Institute of America.  

He earned his bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from Michigan State University and his MBA from Kaplan University.
