Welcome to The University of Olivet!

Everyone here at OC Nation couldn’t be happier or more excited that you chose to be a Comet! Olivet has been serving students for nearly 175 years, so we’ve got a little something to help make your transition to college go smoothly. Before you move on to campus this fall, new students participate in Orientation, a day designed to set you up for success in every area at OC. This includes opportunities to:

  • Meet new friends, current students, professors and other college administration
  • Explore campus through interactive games
  • Attend a financial aid counseling session
  • Check out student housing options
  • Schedule meetings with coaches, directors of musical ensembles and academic advisers
  • Have all your questions answered while having fun!

Prep for Orientation

The first step is super simple – If you haven’t done so already, sign up for an orientation day that works for you! Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend and are offered sessions specific to their needs. Check out the basics details of orientation, schedule and checklist of things you should consider before attending. Most importantly, prepare any questions you may have.

Attend Orientation

We’re here for you. Faculty and staff have dedicated their day to making yours truly special, and that never ends. During your entire student experience at Olivet, we’ll make sure to show you that you can always count on us. During check-in, you’ll be able to schedule meetings and customize your orientation experience to meet your needs. Whether you need some extra help in the academic advising area, or want to learn more about the variety of athletic teams offered, or both, just say so, and we’ll make it happen.

“We are excited to welcome all of our OC Comets to campus for our New Student Orientations this summer,” said Student Orientation Coordinator and Senior Admissions Representative Jared Stratz. “This is a great opportunity for students to create lifelong friendships, connect with professors, coaches and staff members, and to celebrate the very reasons why they made their choice to join the OC family in the first place. Relationship building is vital to the student experience story at The University of Olivet, which is why Orientation is the first step toward creating these bonds for our new students and their families.”

Other Need-to-Knows

Lunch is on us in the Kirk Center, the main dining hall on campus, also home to the bookstore, mail room, classrooms and space for students to study. In addition, breakfast will be served during the welcome session, and an ice cream social will end the day. You’ll also get to hear from The University of Olivet President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., just one of the many times you’ll interact with him during your student experience.

After Orientation

Kick back and enjoy the rest of your summer! If you still need help deciding on a major, check out our find your major tool or learn more about Olivet’s scholarships – every student receives a form of financial aid at Olivet! Talent Scholarships, many of which are still available and may equal up to the full cost of tuition, fees, room and board, are awarded to students who enrich the campus community through their active involvement in and contributions to specific talent-based participation opportunities on campus.
