Welcome to The University of Olivet!
Everyone at OC Nation couldn’t be more excited that you chose to become a Comet! New Student Orientation is just one of the tools we’ve developed to help make your transition to college go smoothly. Before you move on to campus this fall – Move-In Day is Friday, August 17 – all new students participate in Orientation, which includes opportunities to:
- Meet new friends, current students, professors and other members of the OC family
- Explore campus through interactive games
- Attend a financial aid counseling session
- Check out student housing options
- Schedule meetings with coaches, musical ensemble directors and academic advisers
- Have all your questions answered while having fun
Prep for Orientation
If you haven’t done so already, sign up for an Orientation day that works for you! Upcoming dates include June 28, July 12, July 17 and July 31. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend and are offered sessions specific to their needs. Check out the basic details of orientation, schedule and checklist of things you should consider before attending. Most importantly, prepare any questions you may have.
Attend Orientation
Faculty and staff have dedicated their day to making yours truly special, and that never ends. During your entire student experience at Olivet, we’ll make sure to show you that you can always count on us. During check-in, you’ll be able to schedule meetings and customize your orientation experience to meet your needs. Whether you need some extra help in the academic advising area, or want to learn more about the variety of athletic teams offered, or both, just say so, and we’ll make it happen.
“We are excited to welcome all of our OC Comets to campus for our New Student Orientations this summer,” said Jared Stratz, assistant director of admissions. “This is a great opportunity for students to create lifelong friendships, connect with professors, coaches and staff members, and to celebrate the very reasons why they made their choice to join the OC family in the first place. Relationship building is vital to the student experience at The University of Olivet, and Orientation is focused on creating these bonds for our new students and their families.”
Other Need-to-Knows
Lunch is on us in the Kirk Center, the main dining hall on campus, also home to the bookstore, mail room, classrooms and space for students to study. In addition, breakfast will be served during the welcome session, and an ice cream social will end the day. You’ll also get to hear from The University of Olivet President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D., just one of the many times you’ll interact with him during your student experience.
After Orientation
Kick back and enjoy the rest of your summer! If you still need help deciding on a major, check out all of OC’s programs or learn more about scholarships – every student receives a form of financial aid at Olivet! Talent Scholarships, many of which are still available and may equal up to the full cost of tuition, fees, room and board, are awarded to students who enrich the campus community through their active involvement in and contributions to specific talent-based participation opportunities on campus.
There’s Still Time
It’s not too late to join the Class of 2022 and begin classes in the fall as a freshman or transfer student – and take part in New Student Orientation! Many scholarships are still available to help make your college education affordable, as well as opportunities to immediately connect with a college mentor. In addition, transfer students can work individually with our transfer specialist for a seamless transition to OC.
