The University of Olivet’s Alpha Alpha chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) has been named a Distinguished Chapter for the 2025–2026 academic year, a national recognition that honors chapters demonstrating excellence in student engagement, professional development and industry involvement in the field of insurance and risk management.
Olivet is one of only two Michigan universities to receive the Distinguished Chapter designation this year. As a result of the recognition, the Alpha Alpha chapter advances as a semi-finalist for the Edison L. Bowers Award, Gamma Iota Sigma’s highest chapter honor.
The recognition reflects the dedication of Olivet students, who actively participate in professional development opportunities, build relationships with industry leaders and prepare for careers in insurance, risk management and related fields through Gamma Iota Sigma.
Distinguished Chapters are recognized for excellence in chapter management, member recruitment, professional development, programming, alumni engagement, philanthropy, community service and diversity initiatives.
The recognition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of Olivet students, faculty advisors, alumni and industry partners. Olivet has created a chapter that provides meaningful opportunities for students to grow professionally while making a positive impact on the insurance industry.
The honor also highlights the strength of The University of Olivet’s Insurance program, where students gain classroom knowledge, hands-on experiences and valuable industry connections that prepare them for successful careers.
Congratulations to the members and advisors of the Alpha Alpha chapter on this outstanding achievement and for continuing to bring national recognition to The University of Olivet.
