Online program removes financial barriers for qualifying students while addressing nursing shortage

Two issues facing the healthcare industry are the shortage of nurses and the opportunity for current registered nurses to return to college to earn a bachelor’s degree. To help alleviate the crisis, The University of Olivet has announced a scholarship program that will virtually eliminate the cost of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing for qualified students.

In addition to a nursing shortage, many employers now require or express a strong preference for nurses with baccalaureate degrees. UOlivet’s distinctive, relationship-based RN to BSN program enables students who want to advance their nursing careers in a format that accommodates working professionals. Students in the RN to BSN program complete five 8-week terms and all courses are offered virtually, allowing working professionals to review course materials and complete assignments at their convenience each week.

“Our University was established on the ‘divine art and science of doing good to others.’ No other profession demonstrates this principle more than nursing. This scholarship is our way of saying thank you to those nurses who dedicate themselves to this career,” said President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D.

Qualified students will benefit from a combination of donor-funded scholarships, federal financial aid and currently existing State of Michigan financial aid including the Michigan Tuition Grant. As a result, these students will have the extraordinary opportunity to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with nearly 100% of tuition costs covered, less possible textbooks, fees and incidental costs. To be considered, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Nurses who have earned their associate degree and RN licensure are encouraged to apply to the program and complete the FAFSA. Visit UOlivet.edu/rn-bsn for more information and to apply to the program.

UOlivet’s RN to BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
