For Andrea Lozano ’82, art has been a lifelong journey—and one that has taken her from her college days at Olivet to the landscapes and culture of New Mexico.

This fall, Andrea returns to her alma mater through The University of Olivet’s Homecoming Exhibition, New Mexico, Land of Enchantment. The exhibition will feature her work through Oct. 15.

Lozano studied at Olivet from 1978-1982 and has spent more than 35 years working in the visual arts as an exhibiting artist and painter. Her career has included painting commissions, teaching and community arts experiences, as well as exhibitions throughout her career. In 2002, she was named Michigan Hispanic Artist of the Year.

Today, New Mexico is an important part of Lozano’s artistic life. The state’s distinctive landscapes, light, culture and sense of place provide a rich source of inspiration for her work.

New Mexico, Land of Enchantment, offers the Olivet community and visitors an opportunity to see the Southwest through Lozano’s artistic perspective—and to welcome an alumna back to the campus where her own artistic journey took shape.

The exhibition will be on view through Oct. 15. An artist reception will be held on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 3, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

View the exhibition at the Kresge Foundation Art Gallery, Riethmiller-Blackman Art Building. Gallery Hours Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, call 269-749-7627
