It’s October – and OC is ramping up to make the most of the Fall 2017 semester. Get ready for the most beautiful time of the year on campus as the great oaks transform into vibrant reds, oranges and yellows. And with finals coming up, make sure to check out the Speare and Gruen Student Success Center for tutoring, test taking tips or just a few pointers to get the most out of studying. But before students buckle down and hit the books, mark your calendars for upcoming fall events.
Halloween celebrations are always a big hit at OC!
The resident adviser staff puts on Haunted Hallways each year – you won’t need to travel to a theme park for a scary thrill, and the best part, it’s free! Plus, the Criminal Justice Honor Society is hosting a Relay for Life on Oct. 31, including trick-or-treating for the community, a costume contest, and other games and prizes throughout the night.
Pay tribute to veterans
Go and pay tribute to the veterans who are part of OC Nation at the annual Veteran’s Day panel on Nov. 8. Take time to honor these deserving individuals in Mott Auditorium at 10:50 a.m. You’re sure to learn something and meet someone new! You’ll also have the privilege to hear from Jim McCloughan ’68, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and one of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award honorees.
Get a “big city experience” right here on Olivet’s campus
You can get a big city experience right here on campus by visiting an art exhibit or attending an artist’s reception. On Nov. 10 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Kresge Foundation Art Gallery, join Don Rowe and check out his exhibit Small Spaces: Paintings and Constructions. Professor Rowe taught art at OC for nearly 50 years and still remains a Comet at heart today.
Where’s that OC Spirit?!
Show your Comet spirit at athletics events all year long! Cheer on the football team as they face Adrian College at the last home game Nov. 4, and support the soccer, cross country and women’s volleyball teams as they finish their seasons in the coming weeks. But the action doesn’t end there! The swimming and diving, basketball, wrestling, bowling, and boxing teams are all training and gearing up for their seasons.
