Megan Lizotte serves as a regional director for development at The University of Olivet. While earning her undergraduate degree in political science, Megan developed a deep appreciation for higher education. Now, she’s using her skills and passion to help create a vibrant campus and community at OC.
Why do you love OC?
I believe that a great education and the opportunity to get a great education is a universal right and the key to a brighter future. The University of Olivet puts the students, their education and their future first, and that’s why I wanted to join the Olivet family.
What is your favorite memory from your time at OC?
During the short time I have been at Olivet, the most memorable moments have been getting to know the people who work here, went here and go here. Everyone has stories to tell and insight to give. I’ve enjoyed learning about the College from these people.
Where does your passion for fundraising stem from?
Fundraising is a vital part of creating change. We all have ideas of what we would do differently or how we could help make things easier and/or better for the next generation, and fundraising is necessary to drive those ideas forward. For me, it isn’t just selling an idea; it’s about helping people create the future they want to see come true.
What’s the average day in your role, or some of the unique things you are responsible for?
In my role, I regularly communicate and meet with alumni. I enjoy meeting with alumni to hear more about their Olivet experiences and why they support the College.
Why do you encourage students to attend OC?
The nice thing about my role at the College is that I get to meet with alumni from an array of generations, and the main thing that has stood out to me is that they all talk about the family community that Olivet offered them. They credit their professors and the one-on-one attention they provided for who they are and where they went professionally. That reason alone makes the College stand out and is the reason I would encourage students to attend Olivet.
What do you look forward to in your role?
I am excited to experience working on campus during this academic year and experiencing all of the normal school year events that lie ahead, but I am also excited to continue traveling around to meet with alumni and hear their stories about Olivet.
What is an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?
I was adopted at 3 months old from Seoul, South Korea. I also happen to be a lifelong NASCAR fan.
