Jacki Dotts, on campus recruitment and event coordinator, is one of the members of the outstanding The University of Olivet admissions team. Jacki and the team help students find their fit as OC Comets, earn an affordable college education and seamlessly transition from high school to college. In her role, Jacki plans special events to help introduce students to The University of Olivet, including Comet Days and Comet Connections at Buffalo Wild Wings, but also works to customize every student’s personalized campus visit. She especially enjoys helping future Comets build confidence and discover their full potential.
Why do you love The University of Olivet?
I love Olivet because of the incredible people I get to work with. The students, staff and faculty on this campus are truly outstanding! I love that I get to help students make a decision that’s going to change their lives.
What is your favorite Comet memory?
My favorite memory of my time here at The University of Olivet was my first Move-In Day. To get to see all the new students moving in while all of the The University of Olivet faculty and staff were helping was a very cool and fun experience.
Where does your passion for your role stem from?
My passion for working in higher education stems from my own time in college. I had an amazing college experience and was a first generation student, and I wanted the opportunity to help other young men and women have a similar amazing experience.
What’s the average day in your role, or some of the unique things you are responsible for?
I’m in charge of creating a customized schedule for every visiting student and organizing visit events on and off campus. I’m also in charge of our Student Associate Program, meaning I train and schedule the amazing Comets who serve the Admissions Office by giving tours and supporting our needs. I absolutely love working with our student associates – it is my favorite part of my job.
Why do you encourage students to attend OC?
Attending The University of Olivet is the best decision ever because it’s so much more than a college. It’s a home, a community, and a family. The support that our students receive is unlike any other. This is a place where students can come and not just exist, but thrive! Comets are always learning, growing and succeeding.
What do you look forward to in your role?
I’m really looking forward to our Global Citizen Honors Program competition in November. We’ve been working really hard to make the event spectacular and I can’t wait to see it come to fruition. I’m also excited for our upcoming Comet Days June 22 and July 19! Summer is such a beautiful time to be on campus, and I’m eager for future Comets to see what Olivet is all about.
What is the number one piece of advice you share with students?
The advice I want to share with students is to stay connected to OC, no matter where life takes you. The support system and family here are not just for the time you’re on campus, but forever – once a Comet, always a Comet.
What is an interesting or little known fact about yourself?
My dream is to be on the Jimmy Fallon show as a guest one day!
