Meet Dan Montanye, the head men’s soccer coach at OC. Coach Montanye leads the men’s soccer players not only on the field, but in life as well. He is in his second season at Olivet, and strives to help his team perform to the best of their abilities by serving as both coach and mentor. Coach Montanye emphasizes the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work – the keys to success for any athletic team or in any career.

The commitment level that each student receives from all of the faculty and staff is extraordinary. From the minute they start thinking about attending The University of Olivet until they graduate and beyond, they can be rest assured that their needs and interests are put first.
What advice would you give to students?
Make sure you strive to be the best that you can be in everything that you do. I stress the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work. These are the core principles that develop good moral character in young adults.
What are you looking forward to this soccer season?
I love the enthusiasm that our players show for the Breast Cancer Awareness Game that we hold every year. We help raise money for a worthy cause that has affected so many people in such a personal way. This year, the game will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7. We face Adrian College at the Cutler Athletic Complex at 4 p.m.
More about Coach Montanye
- Coach Montanye played semi-professional soccer for the Thunder Bay Chill in Ontario, Canada in 2010. The team even played in the championship game on national television.
- He has six years of coaching experience, a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and a master’s degree in health, human performance, and recreation from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
- He is an animal lover, and has one dog, Rooney, and two cats, Sam and Tinker.
