The University of Olivet continues its tradition of excellence in the classroom, with 11 athletic teams earning Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Team GPA Awards for the 2025-26 academic year.

Presented annually, the MIAA Team GPA Award recognizes conference teams that achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher for the academic year.

The University of Olivet’s women’s tennis team led all Comet programs with a 3.666 team GPA. Also receiving recognition were men’s tennis (3.554), women’s volleyball (3.549), women’s cross country (3.504), women’s soccer (3.496), men’s cross country (3.487), softball (3.463), women’s basketball (3.408), baseball (3.388), men’s basketball (3.342) and women’s golf (3.340).

The recognition continues a long tradition of academic achievement for Comet student-athletes. Since the MIAA introduced the Team GPA Award in 1998-99, 194 Olivet teams have earned the honor.

This year’s total of 11 recognized teams ties for the third-highest number in a single academic year in University history.

Several programs continue to build on impressive records of academic success. Women’s golf has earned the award 22 times, including each of the past 19 years, while women’s tennis has been recognized 19 times, including 17 of the last 18 years. Women’s basketball and softball have each received the honor 16 times, and women’s soccer and women’s volleyball have each earned 15 awards. The men’s basketball team received the recognition for just the second time in program history.

The MIAA Team GPA Awards reflect the commitment of Olivet student-athletes to excel not only in competition, but also in the classroom.
