At The University of Olivet, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Each year, staff members have the opportunity to recognize colleagues who demonstrate exceptional dedication, service, and commitment through the Staff Appreciation Award.
This year’s recipient, Ben Kamali ’24, exemplifies what it means to serve others with compassion, humility, and purpose.
As a First-Year Success Navigator, Ben goes far beyond the responsibilities outlined in his job description. He works tirelessly to ensure students feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate the transition to college life. His investment in students extends beyond academics, helping them build confidence, find belonging, and develop the skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Ben’s impact reaches far beyond his day-to-day role. He played an instrumental role in establishing Olivet’s Women’s Wrestling Team and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Mental Health and Counseling at Olivet to better support the students he serves.
Perhaps what stands out most is the way Ben approaches every interaction. Despite his many accomplishments, he remains humble, approachable, and always willing to offer encouragement or lend a helping hand.
One nominator summed it up best: “He doesn’t just talk about creating a sense of belonging — he lives it every day through his compassion, integrity, and selflessness.”
Ben is a 2024 graduate of Olivet with a degree in sociology and anthropology. He was also an All-American wrestler and a member of Olivet’s 2025 MIAA championship team.
